Contractor/Handyman Recommendations

Below, you will find a list of recommendations for various service providers.  They have been provided by our residents only - and are not endorsed by the neighborhood association.  If you have a recommendation to add to the list, please email it to webmaster@encantopalmcroft.org.

Handyman:

  • I use Wild West Doors, http://wildwestdoor.com/ (623-236-0545), to repair our garage door.  Service is professional, good, prompt, and inexpensive.  –Bill 602-307-5050.

  • I have used John Jantz of Quality Home Repairs for over 10 years now and his work ethics are excellent.  He does light electrical, plumbing & bathroom remodel, roofing shingles, covered patio repair/build and cabinets. He does not talk much but does really good work as my neighbors can attest to.  He and Connie are Snowbirds now and are here from December to April 30th every year so we save our projects for their return each year.   You can reach him at conniejantz@yahoo.com or 417-766-7221.  — Clyde 602-271-0905

Landscaper:

Lawn Maintenance:

  • David Wilkinson (602-460-3242) does reliable and conscientious work for our lawn.  –Bill 602-307-5050

Roofer:

  • Steve Mullis with Diamond Roofing has experience working with the Historic Preservation Office at the city hall.  Steve and his team have installed many of the wood shingle roofs in the Encanto-Palmcroft neighborhood.  Diamond Roofing has installed many other roofs in the neighborhood including custom materials that make the homes in our neighborhood unique.  Diamond Roofing may not be the least expensive quote, but corners won’t be cut to save cost.  The finished roof will look right and last. — Bill 307-5050

Plumber:

House Painter:

  • Wanda Zorkan has a company called something like Pride Remodeling.  They do everything to get a house ready to be rented or sold.  They are very honest, very fairly priced and very competent.  I recommend Wanda highly.  She is amazing and can do everything from painting to cleaning to roofing to electric to repairs etc…  Her telephone number is (602) 277-9028.  — Pam

  • We highly recommend John and Marcella Morar (602-995-2484 (H); (602-410-7929 (cell).  They’ve painted many neighborhood homes - and just finished our interior a few months ago. They are dedicated craftsmen from Europe, lovely human beings and extremely fair and reliable.  We’ve recommended them many times.  They painted the exterior of our home a few years ago.  Glenn 602.257.0857

Air Conditioning:

  • I used Cascade Mechanical (602-233-3265).  They did an excellent job replacing my heat pump.  –Jay 602-254-8400

Window Washer:

  • We use and are happy with Sparkling Windows at 480-905-1342.  –Brett M.

Floor Refinisher:

General Contractor:

  • Mark Hanson, Circumspect Builders, 602-867-7000, has done very good work at our house. — Philip 602-648-3215.
  • Mike Peczynski of Michael’s Southwest Construction.    They built our master bedroom addition, remodeled our kitchen including moving doors and ceilings, and have addressed countless other issues. We recommend him highly. 602-540-0389 — Kelly 602-271-0797.
  • Dean Mahnke of Dana Construction.  He is honest, reasonably priced and really knows is stuff. He is a licensed general contractor.  He has done major remodeling for us at various locations but is also willing to take on small job.  I can’t recommend him highly enough.  His telephone number is: (602) 432-8827.  – Pam 602-489-3566

Drywall Installation and Repair:

  • Oscar Pena   623-297-6286.  Oscar specializes in drywall.  If the project requires other trades, Oscar will find other specialists to help him out so the work is done well rather than do it himself.  — Bill 602-307-5050
Finish Carpentry:
  • Jose Parra   602-648-1116 Jose does finish carpentry.  Jose can do projects like installing a door or window and projects that require finish carpentry.  I used Jose to install doors and put up T&G on a patio ceiling.  — Bill 602-307-5050
Insulation:
  • King Insulation  602-272-9297.  King Insulation installs blown-in insulation.  King is inexpensive and does professional work.  There isn’t much to go wrong when insulating, but some contractors make a simple project seem like a major renovation.  King gets the work done quickly and promptly.  — Bill 602-307-5050
Framing:
  • Joe & Sons Framing, Jose Carreno, 602-405-8129. Joe and Sons does framing quickly and inexpensively, but is not a finish carpenter. — Bill 602-307-5050
Masonry & Plastering:
  • Douglas Butler, Restorations by Design 602-570-5123 / 602-262-0519 (cell).  Doug has recently completed some plaster repair work in our home, both exterior and interior, and did an extraordinary job down to the finest detail.  He is currently doing some exterior trim painting for us.  Doug is a master craftsman, who has done a lot of work for the city on historic structures, and in our neighborhood and other historic neighborhoods nearby.  We would recommend him enthusiastically and without reservation.  — Claudia 602-626-8053
  • Four years ago I needed someone to repair plaster walls that all but tumbled down around my windows when I replaced old shutters with new ones.  He didn’t build a wall but what he did to my existing walls was/is outstanding! He’s a one-man show who also did a beautiful job of refinishing my front door.  Sadly I can’t recall his name but here’s his number… Might be worth a  call for info, referral, etc.  Valley Design 623-773-2471.  — Laura  (11th and Coronado)

Concrete Floor Refinishing:

  • Luis Uribe   480-343-4129, Tricia Uribe   480-244-7408.  Luis refinishes concrete floors.  Luis is recommended by a local refinishing supplies vendor (Cohills).  Before starting out on his own, Luis worked for a large contractor where he learned the trade.  I plan to use Luis when ready to refinish the floors in our home.  At least one neighbor selected Luis over other options and is satisfied with the results.  — Bill 602-307-5050
